White furniture is popular amongst homeowners for its ability to provide a clean and elegant finish to any home interior design. Unfortunately, white is one of the most difficult colors to keep in pristine condition. If you have children or pets in your household, then the difficulties of keeping furniture clean multiply. The chemical cleaners that you use on the furniture will depend upon the type of material the sofa is made of, but there are a few basic cleaning techniques that you can use to clean your white decor.

First and foremost, it is going to be imperative for you to clean your white furniture on a weekly basis in order to prevent everyday dirt and debris from staining your furniture. Start by vacuuming your white furniture on a weekly basis. If you have pets in your household, then it will be beneficial for you to take a lint brush to your white furniture to prevent buildup. White wooden or plastic furniture can be cleaned carefully with a dampened towel.

Any simple stains on one’s white furniture should be immediately blotted with a clean towel, and a clean cloth that has been dampened with cold water should be immediately applied to the stain. Wine and coffee stains should be treated immediately with a paste that has been constructed of baking soda and water. Grease and cornstarch stains can be treated with a poultice that has been made from cornstarch. The cleaner should be left in place for approximately 15 minutes, and the affected area should then be cleaned with clean, cold water.

A cleaning solution that you can make on your own to clean your furniture with on a weekly basis consists of ½ cup of mild detergent and ¼ a cup of water in a bowl. The mixture should be beat until it becomes foamy. The paste should be applied to your furniture in two foot sections. The paste should be allowed to set for ten minutes, and then it should be cleaned off with a clean, damp rag. The furniture should be allowed to dry in its entirety before it is vacuumed or sat upon.

Your white furniture will need to be cleaned deeply roughly every four to six months. During these deep cleaning sessions, you should use chemical cleaners that are appropriate for the types of material used in the construction of your white furniture. In a similar fashion, a steam cleaner may be used to clean white furniture every other month or so.
